COMMUNITY PROGRAMS

COMPUTER CENTER

Technology is a part of our everyday lives, but for many access to technology is very limited. Our growing Technology Center provides students secure access to conduct research online, participate in math and reading enrichment programs, submit college applications, and create personal resumes. Each student receives instruction on navigating safely online.

COATS AND BOOTS FOR KIDS

We gather new and gently used coats, jackets, heavy sweaters and shoes for children who would otherwise not have armor from the cold. Just call (714) 686-1381 and schedule to have your donation items picked up.

BACK TO SCHOOL BASICS

Entering the school year ready is vital to academic success. We collect backpacks and fill them with basic school supplies to ensure children start the year off prepared. When you are out back to school shopping consider donating to our program.

LEANDING LIBRARY

Our lending library allows children the opportunity to borrow a book and continue reading at home. We are always accepting books to expand our library. Books levels can range from beginning readers to advanced age appropriate chapter books. Do you have books your family has outgrown? Donate them to Alas Del Pueblo.

RECYCLING REWARDS

Children work together and with the community in their recycling efforts. Through this effort children learn the power of partnerships and discover that they too can make a difference in their community.

TAILORED TUTORING

All kids can succeed and our program gives them the confidence and skills to do just that. The Tutoring Program is tailored for each child and is structured to address their academic deficiencies as well as reinforce their educational strengths. We consult with the student's teachers when developing the child’s academic plan and provide either, one on one or group tutoring to bolster their success.

LITERACY PROGRAM

Many kids come to us behind a few grade levels in literacy and reading comprehension. Studies have shown that children not reading proficeintly by third grade are 4 times less likely to graduate from high school. Our objective is to keep kids in school motivated to learn and excell. Our literacy tutors achieve this in a fun, supportive environment through one-on-one reading guidance and instruction for students reading below their grade level.

COLLEGE PREP PROGRAM

The goal of our organization is to give kids the academic support and confidence to not only stay in school, but to go beyond. Our College Prep Program helps students plan for college and take them through the steps needed to get there. We provide mentoring on College Pre-requisites, SAT/ACT preparation, College Applications, and College Campus Tours.
